Adeleke, Owoade Philip (Ph.D), is a special education teacher, inclusive-advocate and researcher. He
has several years of practical teaching experience as special/inclusive education teacher. He currently
works with the Department of Special Education, University of Calabar, Cross River State. He has over
twenty (local and international) article publications to his credit. Dr. Adeleke worked as a special
education teacher at Olusoye compensatory Centre (A private School for children with Intellectual and
Developmental Disabilities), between 1993 and 1997, where he had good relationship Late Mrs. Olusola
Hellen Caulcrick who was the Proprietress of the centre. The passion of Late Mrs. Olusola Hellen
Caulcrick inspired Dr. Adeleke, and this further deepen his interest in the education of children and
adults with Intellectual and developmental disabilities. His experience with Late Mrs. Caulcrick helped
build his knowledge in the care and general management of children with Intellectual and
developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum disorders (ASD), Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Fetal Alcoholic
Syndrome, Behaviour disorder etc. Dr. Adeleke is a member of many professional associations such as
National Association for Exceptional Children (NAEC), Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers
(NASET), International Association of Special Education (IASE), Association for Intellectual and
Developmental Disabilities of Nigeria (AIDDN). He is also consulting for some NGOs on inclusive
education. He has sincere passion for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
