Dr. Mohammed Lawal Ladan is a strong advocate and philanthropist in the Nigerian community.
His commitment and dedication has heralded him as a prominent and highly recognized leader.
Dr. Ladan was born in Suleja, Niger State, Nigeria. He attended Dawaki Primary School in
Suleja from there he proceeded to the famous Keffi College now located in Nasarawa State. He
attended Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia where he obtained a BS in chemistry from there he
went to Mercer University where he earned a BS in pharmacy and a doctorate in pharmaceutical
sciences with a concentration in nuclear pharmacy (radioisotopes).
Dr. Ladan was employed at CVS as pharmacist in charge (PIC) for over 25 years. He assisted
with the Atlanta cardiology group as a consultant in drug investigation for hypertension among
African Americans. Dr. Ladan contributed to the Head Start program as an advisor to educate
parents and children on the dangers of drug and opioid use.
Dr. Ladan has labored tirelessly to improve the lives of Nigerians in Suleja by donating
medications to clinics, by contributing diagnostic equipment, by assisting the Meba foundation
with diabetic supplies and educational literature and by providing a continuous water supply to
the people in Suleja.
In recognition of his immense contributions to health in Niger State, he was bestowed with the
Chieftaincy title of Wakilin Maganin Zazzau of Suleja, bestowed on him by the Emir of Suleja
and the Chairman of Suleja Emirate Council (2014) Other awards include National
Pharmaceutical Association Award, Atlanta Chapter 1990; Pharmacist of the Year Award, 1996,
Nigerian Consulate Leadership Award, 1999; Toney Garden Community Award (Decatur
Georgia), 2005-2006; ANOG Image Award, 2008; Tegloma Georgia Chapter, Humanitarian
Award, 2011, CDC West Africa Ebola Outbreak Response Award, 2011
Dr. Ladan’s most notable contribution to the Nigerian community is his weekly health program
to sub-Saharan Africa on Voice of America (Health Matters in Hausa).
Dr. Ladan is a current and former board member of the following groups: Atlanta Minority
Scientific Association; Nicore (Nigerian investment group), American Pharmaceutical
Association; Nigerian Association of Pharmacists & Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas
(NAPPSA); Zumunta Association, U. S. A.; Diaspora Institute for Nigerian Justice and
Accountability(DINJA)
Dr. Ladan is a current and former board member of the following groups – Keep a Village Alive
