Dr. Dada Olu Shonibare, Ph.D.

HDr. Dada Olu Shonibare, Ph.D. is a distinguished Nigerian educationist, educational researcher, Special Education specialist, curriculum developer, and programme evaluation expert with over three decades of professional experience.

He is a retired Director of Research and former Head of the South-West Zonal Office of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), where he contributed extensively to educational research, curriculum development, programme evaluation, inclusive education, Early Childhood Education, and the development of educational resources and interventions.

Dr. Shonibare studied Special Education at the University of Ibadan, with a specialization in Deaf Education, and later earned his doctorate through the International Centre for Educational Evaluation (ICEE), Institute of Education, focusing on programme development and evaluation.

A notable contribution to Nigerian education is his development of the Instructional Sign Language for Nigerian Schools (ISLTENS), produced on DVD for use in schools nationwide. He has authored and contributed to more than 48 publications and educational materials across Special Education, curriculum studies, educational research, and programme evaluation.

Dr. Shonibare is a former President of the National Association of Exceptional Children (NAEC) and a member of the Curriculum Organisation of Nigeria (CON). His professional legacy reflects a longstanding commitment to research-informed educational practice, inclusive education, curriculum improvement, and expanding educational opportunities for learners with diverse abilities.
